1. 將一斤片糖放入細煲,加入一杯清水,用慢火煮溶成糖水
Pour a cup of water into a pot and add 1 catty(一斤) OR 600 gram of brown slab sugar. Heat until the brown slab sugar melts completely.

2. 將一斤糯米粉及1/4斤粘米粉放入大碗,慢慢倒入糖水
Mix 1 catty OR 600 gram of sticky rice flour (糯米粉) and 1/4 catty OR 150 gram of rice flour (粘米粉). Slowly add the molten brown slab sugar.

3. 攪拌成年糕漿
Mix until the batter is smooth

4. 加入三茶匙食用油及三茶匙䶨水
Add 3 teaspoons of oil and 3 teaspoons of 鹼水 (it is edible potassium carbonate sold in the wet market - optional) into the batter

5. 將年糕漿倒入糕盆,大火蒸兩小時
將筷子插入年糕內,筷子不黏年糕即可
Pour the batter into a round cake pan. Steam for 2 hours.

6. 年糕上掃上一層食用油
Spread a layer of oil onto the Chinese New Year Cake. ----------------------------------------------
7. 於年糕中央放上一粒紅棗作裝飾。
